We’re Engaged!

Our Story

Our love story begins on a rather chilly morning in September 2019. By a stroke of luck, both of us had registered for a Saturday morning tennis class that semester. After a prolonged game of touch the fence in which Lauren won handily, Benjer asked Lauren for her number and proceeded to take her on a date the next week. That next week Benjer picked Lauren up to throw hatchets at a local business known for encouraging that sort of behavior. Over the next few months, we bonded over Aggie sports, Stranger Things, and frequent homework dates. Eventually, however, Lauren broke the news that she would be leaving that Spring semester for an internship in the Dominican Republic. Despite the distance, we continued our relationship throughout the next semester. Then, when Covid-19 hit, Lauren was evacuated back to the states and quarantined in Arizona with her family. After her quarantine was over, Benjer drove all the way from Logan to Gilbert to pick her up and take her back to Utah with him. They spent the next few months social distancing from pretty much everyone except for each other. On the first day of school, Benjer asked Lauren to go ring shopping with him, and a little over a month later, he popped the question at the top of Old Main Hill after recreating our first date. We are so excited to begin our life together—we are hoping our future is filled with waffles, adventuring, and hopefully one day, a puppy.
